Soft Silence

Soft silence peeks
from dark corners
come hushes of nothingness
squeals of despair
and the pang of lost love.

Four letters with little meaning—
the focus of many lives
the joy and sorrow of a million songs
and the cause of a thousand aches.

With every benefit,
a thousand stabs of lost bliss,
a world of painful reaction
to silence.

Conclusions may not be reached
when questions dare not be asked,
fear of discovery tatters
Truth's resting place.

The only certainty
is that beauty and pain
eventually fade,
and tears cleanse only
that which may be cleaned.

This is probably my favorite one of your published poems. I love it!
