At Least

Your last cold embrace,
our painful parting words
bring silent blessings upon you,
eternal wishes for good things.

Nothing cold can stay,
for long, at least,
and at long last,
I finally think I understand.

But how much more can there be to comprehend?
We're both still finding our way,
hugging the endless cold walls
of a dark and foggy tunnel.

We were there together,
facing the world,
taking it on
one piece at a time--
What I see now
and should have seen so long ago
is that we're facing opposite ways
against two different worlds.

So maybe we weren't together in our aims,
but at least I had your hand to hold
and your arms to hold me.
