Pain

Replay the conversations in your head
Remember the sound of a voice
Your voice

Smile to your friends
Wave to your enemies
Cry to yourself

Open your eyes to the vast wasteland
What we’ve left for ourselves
And our friends

Tattered personalities
The pages of life fraying
But the librarian just keeps putting the book back.

A warped tape plays
but joyful Sounds seem foreign
To pained ears.

Opening eyes to the new day
Rush of happiness quickly blindsided
By the truck of pain.

Sleepwalking,
Looking into your blank eyes
Yearning for what once was
And what can no longer be

Scorpion tears
Crawl down my face
Make their way to the next victim

No more. It’s completely done.
Scars of pains past pierce the heart
My lovely candle has been extinguished.
